Congratulations on Warm Fuzzy Party

After 3 months of hard work I would like to congratulate my 3rd and 4th graders for earning their first warm fuzzy party". The theme for our party was "Game Day". We had all kinds of games board game, portable games, and WI we hooked up to the TV. I would like to thank Olivia Smith 4th grades mom for bringing in the WI and hooking it up for us, and Moriah's mom for donating some drinks for the day. Enjoy some of the pictures of our day of games. My favorite is the video of our Jordan playing WI Cheer. It was his idea that I post it on the website. You might need to pause the music player at the bottom the screen to hear video.

Operation Christmas Child

For the second year in a row BCA took part in the "Operation Christmas Child" charity. We spend weeks collecting, organizing, and wrapping up our shoe boxes to send across the world to needy children. Our school collected over 80 boxes for this great cause. The following are pictures of our class decorating the shoe boxes for all the donations.

Learning Fractions
The other day we had a lesson on learning fractions. We used different colored sour gummy worms to separate into groups of fractions for each color. As you can see they had a blast learning all the while. The only negative was the sugar rushes during the rest of math class.

Nature Institute Field Trip
Last Friday we had our first field trip of the year to the Nature Institute. We had such a great time learning about natures plants, insects, and animals. We went on a very long hike learning the entire time about all the things around us. Our hike ended on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. When we got done with our hike we had a campfire lunch complete with hot dogs, chips, and smores. We had prayed all week that we would have good weather and no rain on the day of our field trip. The weather was saying rain all week and God answered their prayers and we had a beautiful fall day with sunshine.

Walk -a-Thon 2009
We had a great a successful Walk-a-Thon this year. Our class alone raised $694. We has a beautiful day and got to have the event at the park. Madison Wamhoff won my top fundraiser classroom prize of going out to eat with me at the fast food restaurant of her choice in Wood River. I would like to congratulate my entire class for a job well done!

Today was "Meet Me at the Pole" day. We had a very well organized breakfast of donuts, biscuits and gravy, juices and milk for breakfast. We had a beautiful sunrise as we began. We enjoyed a little singing and prayer time in a large group and then in small groups. We prayed for our country, our troops, our schools, and our community. It was such a blessing to start out our day in prayer all together.

First Computer Lab Class of the Year
Today our class went to the computer lab for the first time of the year. We went up to do Spelling City games using our spelling list this week. I have to say each one of the kids were very computer smart and we breezed right through getting logged on and getting our program up and running.

Creation Assembly
Today we had our "Creation" assembly. The students spent 1/2 the day doing tons of hands on science experiments with the ending conclusion that God is responsible for everything. Insect Zoo
As part if our science unit over insects we started collecting insects for our insect zoo today. It was such a nice day to go out and catch our insects. The kids caught flies, crickets, moths, butterflies, grasshoppers, caterpillars, lightning bugs, and some bugs we need to look up to see what they are. We will be continuing to collect and watch our insects for the next couple of weeks. I loved seeing all the excitement while learning about insects today.

Welcome 3rd and 4th Graders
Welcome 3rd and 4th grade students and parents. I was so excited to start the school year off and meet each and everyone of you. Our class spent our 1/2 day together learning a little about each other, learning classroom procedures, schedules, and rules. I loved the enthusiasm I saw on each of my students face as they entered my class and my goal is to keep that up throughout the school year. I will be praying for each family in my class throughout the school year and appreciate your prayers for me as well. This site was designed to use as a tool of communication for my class this year. I will be posting lots of information, photos, videos, and links to helpful educational sites. Please bookmark and check back often for updates.
